In December of 2018, St. Paul’s City Church called its new Rector, The Reverend Antoinette Burwell.

She is a native of Los Angeles, and grew up in a home of musicians, preachers and storytellers. Thus, she brings with her a very warm, relatable style of preaching and teaching that draws the listener in. You might hear her share a story of listening to her grandmother and great aunts from under the dining room table or a vivid and heart wrenching description of what it was like to pray for and serve communion to thousands of people in New York City just after the attack on September 11, 2001.  Her passion is serving people wherever they are and bringing the love and grace of God to them, through Jesus Christ.

She earned a Masters Degree of Divinity from Duke University Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina, a Masters Degree of Music from California State University of Los Angeles, and a Masters Degree of Sacred Theology from The General Theological Seminary in New York City. She also served as a pastor at churches on the East Coast, and five years as the women’s chaplain at the Anne Douglas Center for Women on Skid Row in Los Angeles. She is able to draw upon her vast experience and is excited to join the people of St. Paul’s to reach the areas surrounding Murrieta.

In her spare time, she is working on composing a jazz/gospel mass. She is both gifted and trained choral director, conductor and singer who often brings her love of music into her preaching.

Please join us any Sunday and we know you’ll be blessed. All are welcome!
